Since launching our first pilot in 2012 – known then as OC Mommy and Me – with 12 new moms and their darling babies in a small office suite, we now see upwards of 150 Moms in class and playgroups each week.
We exist to elevate the postpartum period and give you the best newborn experience possible, creating a community of like-minded, supportive women along the way.
Having served upwards of 5,000 Mamas since our launch in 2012, the New Mom School journey has been so fulfilling for all of us! We’ve grown with you, shared with you, and supported you in your very special motherhood journey.
As we reflect on each of the milestones we’ve hit, it’s hard not to feel nostalgic.
In April 2013 we moved into our very own, dedicated studio space at Fashion Island which was to become home for the next 8 years. By June, the classes were so popular that moms kept asking for more! That’s where the idea for the Infant Series for 3 to 6-month-olds was born.
2016 saw the birth of The New Mom School as we changed our name officially from OC Mommy and Me to the New Mom School to better portray our mission to educate and support new Moms in all aspects of postpartum and parenting.
Since we know that not all moms breastfeed, but know how challenging it can be, in 2017 we started to offer our free breastfeeding support group. We also launched our free postpartum adjustment support group for moms that were struggling more than what we could support during normal class times. We can’t thank our group leaders enough for donating their time to support our moms.
Once we hit 2018, we expanded our studio at the Newport Center to offer a second classroom dedicated to programming for babies 6 months+ including sensory classes and toddler parenting classes.
August 2021 brought with it a special move to The New Mom School’s new home at The Ranch at Newport Bay to accommodate the growth of our programs and serve even more moms throughout Orange County! Our studio includes an in-suite restroom, kitchenette, and in-house office for our amazing lactation consultant, Shelly Jacobs, IBCLC.
Throughout the years, The New Mom School has met the needs of families in our community by offering unique programming for Working Moms, Second Time Moms, Moms of Multiples, moms struggling with Postpartum Anxiety / Postpartum Depression, and even Dads!
Fun facts:
- 25% of our Moms are returning for the second (or third!) time.
- The New Mom School runs, on average, 15 classes a week for babies 0 – 18 months!
- Our team has grown over the years and currently includes 8 class instructors, and 10 visiting experts!
- This year alone we have offered 52 Newborn and Infant series (that’s 1 new class per week!), 2 toddler parenting classes, and over 75 playgroups!
While so much has changed in the last decade as we evolved our services to best suit you, Mamas, what remained has been our commitment to providing the best postpartum care and support possible.
