Meet Courtney Valdes, the Heart Behind New Mom School Aliso Viejo
New Mom School Aliso Viejo is led by Courtney Valdes, a licensed clinical psychologist, mom of one energetic toddler and expecting baby #2 in October 2025. For Courtney, bringing New Mom School to Aliso Viejo wasn’t just a professional decision — it was deeply personal.
As a new mom herself, Courtney understands firsthand the challenges and joys of early motherhood. She brings both expertise and empathy with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and over a decade of working with children and families. Courtney participated in the Newborn series when her daughter was born in 2023 and has since had a growing passion to find ways to support others during their postpartum journey. She’s dedicated to empowering and helping new Moms build meaningful connections in her community and can’t wait to bring New Mom School to South OC.
“When we support the mother, we strengthen the whole family. Every postpartum journey deserves to be honored.”
Courtney knows firsthand how life-changing it can be to have a space where moms feel seen, heard, and truly supported, and that’s exactly what she’s creating here at New Mom School Aliso Viejo. Her goal is to offer not only expert guidance and education, but also a place where lifelong friendships and genuine community can grow.
“When we support a new mother, we nurture two lives. A strong village not only protects her mental health but it empowers her to care for her baby with confidence and a calm presence.”
With a background in maternal mental health, as well as a passion for overall maternal wellness, Courtney is on a mission to change the narrative for the way new moms are cared for in South Orange County!
Why the 4th Trimester Deserves More Support
The fourth trimester — the first three months after birth — is an intense, emotional, and often isolating time. 85% of new moms experience some level of postpartum distress, and 1 in 7 will face postpartum depression. Courtney and the team at New Mom School are here to change that.
Through a structured, 8-week series, moms are placed in small, closed groups with others whose babies are the same age. Classes are 90 minutes long and feature local expert speakers on everything from lactation and infant sleep to maternal mental health, pelvic floor therapy, and more.
But perhaps the most powerful part? The community. Moms form deep bonds with each other, often staying connected long after the class ends.
Classes Begin This September 2025!
Whether you’re preparing for your first baby or are already in the thick of newborn life, New Mom School Aliso Viejo is here for you. This isn’t just a class, it’s a community and the village you need during early motherhood.
