We’re Beyond Excited to Introduce New Mom School to Nashville
The journey to motherhood is beautiful. Expecting moms often radiate a special glow, filled with anticipation and love for the baby they’re about to meet. But once the baby arrives, many moms are surprised by how intense and often isolating the experience can be. That glow can quickly fade as the reality of life with a newborn sets in.
The fourth trimester—the 12 weeks following birth—is one of the most transformative and challenging times in a woman’s life. In fact, 85% of moms experience some level of postpartum distress.*
That number is heartbreaking, but not surprising. There’s a major gap in care from the moment a mom gives birth to when she sees her provider for a six-week checkup. And even then, those visits often don’t address the emotional, psychological, or day-to-day struggles new moms face. The baby is seen by a pediatrician, but the mother’s needs often fall through the cracks. It’s no wonder this time can feel overwhelming, lonely, and uncertain.
This is exactly where New Mom School Nashville comes in. We’re a space designed to help new moms feel connected, confident, and cared for.
How New Mom School Started
New Mom School was founded in California more than 10 years ago by Alexandra Spitz, a Certified Parent Educator, Infant Care Specialist, and mom of two. The idea came after Alex attended a mommy-and-me class that changed her life. Fueled by her passion for early development, psychology, and the power of community, she created New Mom School—a place where moms could feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Since then, New Mom School has supported over 10,000 women and families across the country, offering postpartum education and connection in a way that truly changes lives.
Now Offering Postpartum Support in Nashville
What started as a mission to support new moms in California is now taking root in Nashville, thanks to local mom and owner, Megan Schorgl, who saw a need for stronger postpartum support in her own community.
Megan is originally from Orange County, California, and is a mom to one sweet daughter. With a background in sales, account management, and business operations, Megan always dreamed of owning her own business—but it wasn’t until she became a mom herself that her purpose became clear.
“When I was pregnant, I looked everywhere for New Mom School in Nashville,” Megan recalls. “So many of my friends said it was life-changing for them. When I found out it wasn’t here, I knew this was something Nashville families truly needed.”
While on maternity leave—sitting in the Costco parking lot, of all places—Megan came across an ad announcing that New Mom School was beginning to franchise. She had an immediate gut feeling this was it. Within months, she began laying the foundation to open two locations: one in East Nashville (opening October 27, 2025) and a second planned for Green Hills in early 2027.
“New moms are drowning in information but starving for community,” she says. “I wanted to bring a space to Nashville where moms can find both. Real support and trusted guidance from experts who understand what they’re going through.”
With a strong business background, personal experience as a new mom, and deep empathy for the challenges of early motherhood, Megan’s goal is to ensure every mom in Nashville feels seen, supported, and connected through this new season.
