Today, we’re excited to introduce you to Nicole Parmelee, the incredible owner behind New Mom School Greenville! In this Q&A, Nicole shares what inspired her to bring this special community to life, plus answers to some of the top questions new moms ask about our programs.

Let’s dive in!

Why Did You Decide to Open a New Mom School in Greenville?

Becoming a mom is life-changing, in the most beautiful, but also the most overwhelming ways. When I became a first-time mom at 25, I found myself in a place I never expected: feeling isolated and unsure of where to turn. I had just moved from New Jersey to South Carolina, far away from family and lifelong friends, and while I was thrilled to welcome my baby, I quickly realized how lonely and challenging those first months can be.

Once my husband returned to work, reality set in. Breastfeeding wasn’t as intuitive as I imagined (and boy did we struggle with that!). The sleepless nights, the constant doubts of “am I doing this right?” were louder than I expected. I searched for support online and became a member of some Facebook groups, but it wasn’t enough. I craved real connection. I needed a community of other moms who understood what I was going through.

That’s why, years later, when I discovered New Mom School, it immediately resonated with me. Our mission to support mothers during this tender, vulnerable time was exactly what I had needed back then. The emphasis on caring for the mother, not just the baby, filled a gap that so many women, including myself, experience in postpartum life.

I knew instantly: Greenville needs this. Moms here deserve this.

With my background in psychology and human resources, and my personal experience navigating motherhood without a built-in village, I felt called to bring New Mom School to my community. This isn’t just a business to me, it’s personal. It’s about creating a space where moms feel seen, supported, and surrounded by a village of women walking the same journey.

Today, I’m proud to be opening the Greenville location of New Mom School, to help moms find the support I once needed and to remind every new mother that “You are not alone.”

What Topics Do New Mom School Greenville Classes Cover?

Our signature 8-week series (one 90-minute session per week) covers everything new moms need to thrive, including:

✔️ Postpartum recovery and self-care strategies
✔️ Newborn sleep and feeding guidance
✔️ Mental health and emotional well-being
✔️ Finding your identity beyond motherhood
✔️ Navigating relationship changes and communication
✔️ Plus much more!

Every week, we bring in trusted professionals like pediatricians, lactation consultants, sleep specialists, and mental health experts to share insights—and answer every real-world question you have.

Imagine walking into a room full of moms who are just as sleep-deprived, overwhelmed, and unsure as you are. On day one, you nervously share your birth story in the circle. Maybe it didn’t go as planned, maybe you struggled with breastfeeding, maybe you felt completely blindsided by how hard those first weeks really are. And then, another mom across the room nods, smiles, and says, “That happened to me, too.” In that moment, you realize you’re not alone. That connection, that shared understanding, is where the real magic of New Mom School happens. It’s not just about the classes or the information, it’s about finding your people. Moms who get it. Moms who become your village when you need it most.

Can I Join New Mom School Classes if I’m Pregnant?

Yes— and it’s actually encouraged!
While our classes officially begin after your baby is born (starting around 3 weeks old), we recommend pre-registering while you’re still pregnant. Here’s why:

  • You lock in your spot (classes often fill quickly!)
  • You receive a $50 expectant mom discount
  • It’s risk-free: we offer 100% refunds if your plans change

When I was pregnant with my first baby, one of the very first things people told me was, “You better get on that daycare waitlist ASAP!” I remember thinking, “Wait, already? I’m barely out of my first trimester!” But sure enough, daycares in our area had waitlists that stretched for months and sometimes even a year out. So I registered before my baby was even the size of a peanut.

The funny thing is, no one tells you to plan ahead for your own support as a new mom. We’re so focused on baby gear, daycare spots, and doctor’s appointments, but what about you? The truth is, the postpartum period can be overwhelming and isolating, and having a community lined up before your baby arrives can make all the difference.

That’s exactly why it’s important to register for New Mom School while you’re still pregnant. Just like daycare, it’s something you want in place before you need it. So when the time comes, you have a built-in support system of other moms, expert guidance, and a safe space to navigate those early weeks.

Because motherhood isn’t meant to be done alone — and you shouldn’t have to scramble to find your village after your baby arrives.

How Big Are the Class Sizes at New Mom School Greenville?

We keep our groups intentionally small—typically between 10–14 moms—to create a safe, supportive space for real conversations, shared experiences, and lasting friendships.

Many of our moms go on to form lifelong bonds that extend well beyond the 8-week series. ❤️

We’ll happily provide the paperwork and receipts you need to submit for potential reimbursement. It’s always worth checking with your HR department or insurance provider!

My Partner’s Skeptical About the Cost. What Can I Say?

It’s completely normal for partners to have questions. Here’s what we tell them:

When a mom feels confident, supported, and emotionally healthy, the whole family benefits.

  • Mom’s mental and emotional health improves
  • Partner relationships are stronger
  • Babies feel more secure and connected

Our program isn’t just an investment in mom—it’s an investment in the entire family’s well-being.
