Meet Liberty Planck, the Heart Behind New Mom School Lake Oswego
New Mom School Lake Oswego is led by Liberty Planck, a mom of three girls four and under and seasoned strategist with a background in experience design, operations, and community building. For Liberty, bringing New Mom School to Oregon wasn’t just a professional decision—it was deeply personal.
After becoming a mom herself during the pandemic, Liberty experienced the highs, lows, and invisible mental load that often comes with new motherhood. She craved a space where moms could be honest—where they could share their fears, ask questions, and feel deeply supported without judgment.
“So many of us prepare for the birth, but not what comes after. I wanted to create a space where moms feel safe to say, ‘This is harder than I expected,’ or ‘I don’t love the Newborn stage,’ and find both comfort and real tools to help them through it.”
Liberty knows firsthand how life-changing it can be to have a space where moms feel seen, heard, and truly supported—and that’s exactly what she’s creating in Lake Oswego. Her goal is to offer not only expert guidance and education, but also a place where lifelong friendships and genuine community can grow.
“No mom should have to navigate this season alone. When moms feel supported, families thrive.”
With a professional background that spans industries—from Pixar and Apple to consumer products, real estate, and fintech—Liberty brings both creativity and operational expertise to this mission. Now, she’s channeling her lived experience and passion for maternal wellness into building something that will change the narrative for new moms across Oregon—one powerful village at a time.
Why the 4th Trimester Deserves More Support
The fourth trimester — the first three months after birth — is an intense, emotional, and often isolating time. 85% of new moms experience some level of postpartum distress, and 1 in 7 will face postpartum depression. Liberty and the team at New Mom School are here to change that.
Through a structured, 8-week series, moms are placed in small, closed groups with others whose babies are the same age. Classes are 90 minutes long and feature local expert speakers on everything from lactation and infant sleep to maternal mental health, pelvic floor therapy, and more.
But perhaps the most powerful part? The community. Moms form deep, lasting bonds with each other—often staying connected long after the class ends.
