When I was expecting my first baby, I thought my job was to focus on all the stuff – the nursery theme, the car seat, the stroller system, the right bottles. I made lists, compared products, and believed that if I bought the right things, I’d be more than ready to bring this baby home.
But here’s what I didn’t realize: no amount of gear prepares you for those first weeks with a newborn. What I actually needed wasn’t the perfect bottle warmer … It was people.Â
It was close support.Â
It was expert resources at my fingertips.Â
And other women who “got” what I was going through… a true village.
That’s exactly why we opened New Mom School St. Louis West County. Because when you’re sleep-deprived, your body is healing, and your emotions are everywhere, you shouldn’t have to do it alone. Baby gear gets used for a season. But support, confidence, and connection? Those will carry you throughout motherhood.
In the age where most moms look to the internet for connection – research tells us that maternal mental health is plummeting and at our core, we’re feeling more disconnected than ever. Our team dreamed about what the “perfect landing pad” for moms might look like after birth – and we knew it had to include a circle of moms walking the same path, with knowledgeable experts who could answer the questions Google never quite gets right. Which is even more reason why New Mom School is so important to new moms.Â
The first question we get asked is, “When should I sign up for a class?” The answer: if you’re pregnant right now, pre-register for our Newborn Class Series (or Second/Third Tune Class Series!) so your trusted group is waiting for you in the fourth trimester. Before you even give birth, you’ll know you have somewhere to go, people to lean on, and a safe place to ask the hard questions.

Support Beyond ClassesÂ
FREE Breastfeeding Support Groups:
Breastfeeding can be difficult, especially at the beginning. We offer a complimentary weekly breastfeeding support group, separate from our class series, to ensure all breastfeeding mothers have access to expert guidance. By hosting this group outside of our regular classes, we’re able to provide focused support without excluding or placing pressure on moms who choose not to breastfeed or are unable to.
We partner with Abeille Feeding Clinic to bring you trusted IBCLCs on Monday mornings from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Our IBCLC is available to take individual breastfeeding consultations right on site in New Mom School’s studio lactation office.Â
Network of Resources:Â
We’re proud to offer a carefully curated network of trusted professionals throughout the St. Louis community, connecting moms to the care and support that meets their unique needs. Whether you’re looking for a maternal mental health specialist, couples counselor, occupational or physical therapist, or another expert service, we’ve got you covered. Our deep community connections ensure you’ll have access to compassionate, high-quality care every step of the way.Â
Blog:
Our website features a regularly updated blog designed to enrich our class curriculum with expert-backed resources. Each post is organized by topic, making it easy for moms to quickly find what they need-when they need it.
From trusted pediatrician recommendations to the best local spots for custom baby gifts and embroidered clothing, we love highlighting our favorite St. Louis finds. You also may discover some of our favorite self-care resources just for moms!
Is It Worth It?
Here’s what moms are saying:
